Starting from December 1st, airport taxes for flights to the Maldives will increase significantly. If you purchase flight tickets or any Maldivian package offers from December onward, the following new airport taxes will apply:

✈️First Class passengers: ZAR 17,452 for two people

✈️Business Class passengers: ZAR 8,728 for two people

✈️Economy Class passengers: ZAR 3,636 for two people

The increase in airport taxes is the smallest for economy class, but for those planning to travel in business or first class, it’s highly recommended to start planning ahead seriously. Unfortunately, the increase affects everyone dreaming of the Maldives! To avoid the new fees, book your Maldives trip planned for next year by November 30, 2024, while the current prices are still valid!

On the bright side, a brand-new, modern airport terminal is expected to open in early 2025! The new 78,000-square-meter terminal will significantly boost the capacity of Velana International Airport, enabling it to serve up to 7 million passengers annually, compared to the current terminal’s capacity of 1.5 million passengers.

he terminal will feature state-of-the-art facilities, including:

• Aero boarding bridges for more convenient boarding

• Advanced baggage handling systems for faster luggage processing

• Expanded retail, dining, and lounge areas for enhanced service quality
